George W. Tally, 84, of Marshall, IL passed away 11:18 AM Tuesday, January 27, 2015 in the Paris Health Care Center at Paris, IL.
He was a self employed carpenter and was also an area farmer. He was born Feb. 23, 1930 at Marshall, IL, the son of Ivan Tally and Nina Alice Wesnitzer Tally. On July 27, 1951 at Marshall, IL, he married Retta Shotts.
Surviving are his wife, Retta; a daughter, Linda (Rick) Nicholson of Paris, IL; two sons, Dale Tally of Paris, Il and Zane (Corrina) Tally of Kansas, IL; a brother, Chester (Mary) Tally of Mulberry Grove, IL; five grandchildren, Dane (Lori) Tally, Jenna Monk, Brandie (Jerry) Rankin, Zachary (Jacque) Tally and Kelly Nicholson and five great grandchildren and one on the way.
George served this nation in the US Army and was a member of Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion. When his health permitted he loved to hunt and fish and loved the out-of-doors. George was well known throughout the area for his work ethic and his sense of humor.
Graveside services will be 2:15 PM Saturday in the Marshall Cemetery with Rev. Paul Burress officiating and Clark Co. Post #90 and VFW Post #5975 conducting military graveside rites. The location of his grave in the cemetery is at the exact location of his home place while he was growing up. Visitation will be 1-2 PM Saturday at Pearce Funeral Home.
