Gordon L. Anderson, 80, of Marshall, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN. He was born May 27, 1942 in Danville, IL, the son of Leland and Margaret Dickson Anderson. Surviving are daughters, Candy Anderson (Greg King) and Carrie Lutz (Eric) both of Marshall; siblings, Hall Anderson (Jean) of Branson, MO, Peggy Jones of Gibson City, IL, and Carrie and Candy’s mother, Lynn Anderson of Fithian, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Byron Jones. Gordon attended Eastern IL University. He then transitioned back to sporting goods, sales, and watching the twins play volleyball! He was a faithful member of St. James United Methodist Church while in Danville. He also served on the Oakwood Unit 76 school board, Danville Rotary Club, Vermilion County Fair Board, and was involved with the National Sporting Goods Association. Upon his move to Marshall, he engaged with the community through his memberships at Armstrong United Methodist Church and the Marshall Lions Club. He also enjoyed driving patients from Burnsides Nursing Home to appointments and greeting guests at the Villas of Hollybrook. He was a man of faith and family, and loved all things sports. He had a big heart for all he met and never met a stranger. He taught his girls how to love, how to dream, how to work, and how to serve in faith. He lived out God’s Love and demonstrated how to shine God’s Light each day. Memorial services will be held on Saturday Nov. 5th at Pearce Funeral Home.
