Harold R. Hamilton, 92, of Marshall, IL entered into the gates of heaven at 12:13 AM Tuesday, August 20, 2013 in Union Hospital at Terre Haute, IN. He was retired from Clark County Culvert of Marshall. He was born March 12, 1921 at Terre Haute, IN, the son of William and Elsie Baggs Hamilton. He married Rosa Mae Spittler on Dec. 26, 1941. Surviving are his wife; his children, Gene Hamilton of Paris, IL and Sharon (Jerry) Raisner of Marshall, IL; four grandchildren, Ben (Yola) Taylor, Eric (Monica) Hamilton, Chad Hamilton and Jason (Tyra) Raisner; 10 great grandchildren; a sister, Irene Nuno and his faithful companion, Mopsey. He was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Hamilton, two brothers who died in infancy and a sister, Norma Evola. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Marshall and was an avid reader. One of his favorite times of the year was Christmas and he loved to play Santa Claus for his grandchildren and others. He honorably served this nation in the US Army during WW II and was a member of Marshall VFW Post #5975. Services in honor of his life will be 1:30 PM Thursday at Pearce Funeral Home with Bro. John Cutshall officiating. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery with military graveside services in honor of his service to this country accorded by VFW Post #5975 and Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion. Visitation will be from 12 Noon until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
