Helen L. Farris, 85, of Dennison, IL went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 12:08 PM Saturday, May 17, 2014 with her family surrounding her. She was born December 28, 1928 in the Clarksville area of Clark County, IL, the daughter of Ivan Hornbrook and Clarine Irwin Hornbrook. She married Ray A. Farris in 1950 at the Clarksville Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband Ray; a son, Michael ( Julie) Farris of Dennison, IL; three daughters, Michelle (Mike) Hershfelt of Decatur, IL, Pamela (Les) Conine of Pocahontas, IL and Penny (Darrell) Plyman of Nicholasville, KY; grandchildren, Amie Farris, Aaron Farris, Blake Farris, Emily Barnard, Shanna Romanyshyn, Tracy (Jess) Smithers, Randi Barnard, Crystal (Mike) Hays, Ashley (Matt) Goodson, Clayton Conine and Kyle Conine; 10 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Lance Farris; two sisters, Phyllis Moore and Wanda Spittler and a brother, Robert Hornbrook She was a member of the Armstrong United Methodist Church. At the church she volunteered her time in many capacities and was actively involved with the youth by teaching Bible School, Sunday school and many other youth activities. She was also a member of the WSCS of the church. She was a 1947 graduate of Marshall High School and was a graduate of the Decatur, IL Beautician School. She was a former beautician and was a Mary Kay Consultant for several years. She had also been active in 4-H and loved to square dance and was a member of Singing Sams for many years. She had also written an article entitled Dennison Dale for the Marshall Advocate. Services in honor of her life will be 10:30 AM Friday at Pearce Funeral Home with Rev. Krista Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Farris Cemetery at Dennison. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Thursday and prior services at the funeral home on Friday. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Armstrong United Methodist Church or to Gowin Parc at Paris, IL. The family desires to express their genuine appreciation to the staff at Gowin Parc for the wonderful care she received during her illness.
