Henry A. Murphy, 67, of Rockford, IL, formerly of Marshall, IL, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2015 at his residence in Rockford.
He was born Aug. 23, 1947 at Terre Haute, IN, the son of Jesse A. and Thelma Gibson Murphy.
Henry was a 1965 graduate of Marshall High School. He joined the United State Army following graduation and served at Red Stone Arsenal, Ft. Bliss and Okinawa, Japan during the Viet Nam war. He retired as a technician for AT&T.
Surviving are a son and spouse, Jesse and Janelle Murphy; a daughter and spouse, Pamela and Michiah Hugi; a sister and spouse, Irene and Dr. Arnold Skor; four grandchildren, Mick Hugi, Kerriana Murphy, Aidan Hugi and Ava Hugi; cousins Hobart Murphy and spouse Beverly, Linda Elliott, Rita Murphy, Betty Murphy, Belle Ann Slayers and spouse Gene; aunt, Anna Mae Murphy as well as treasured nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services in honor of his life will be 11:00 AM Friday at Pearce Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Morecraft officiating. Burial with military graveside rites by VFW Post #5975 and Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion will be in the Auburn Cemetery. Visitation will be one-hour prior services on Friday at the funeral Home.
