Jahala Kay Shumaker, age 80, of Marshall, IL. went to be with her Lord on June 10, 2021. Jahala was born on August 8, 1942 in Charleston, IL. She spent several years providing in-home care to seniors. She was very active in the ministry, teaching Sunday school, leading bible studies, singing, mentoring, visiting people and sharing her love for Jesus. Jahala, enjoyed spending time with her family, reading her bible, singing and listening to music. She also wrote poems, stories and songs. She had a beautiful spirit and a special way of touching people’s hearts. Jahala attended Effingham Assembly of God Church in Effingham, IL. for over 20 years and currently attended New Rivers Assembly of God Church in Marshall, IL.
Jahala is survived by her husband of 33 years, Jim Shumaker, her daughters, Debbie Pocmich, Pam (Husband Chet) Pierce, son Jason Heiser, stepson, Ed Shumaker(Wife Jane Ann), fifteen grandchildren, seven, soon to be eight great grandchildren, sister, Peggy (husband Jim) Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents; Melvin and Lorene Cobble, brother, Carlos Cobble, Step son Eric Shumaker, and son in law Doug Pocmich. Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM Monday at the Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall with Rev Joey Harryman Officiating. Burial will follow in the Clarksville Cemetery.
