John R. Shotts, 73, of Marshall, IL passed away April 9, 2024. He was born November 30, 1950 at Terre Haute, IN, a son to Arthur and Rose Marie (Fetters) Shotts. John farmed in Anderson Township with his father for many years and retired from the State of Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Lincoln Trail State Park after 18 years due to health issues. He proudly served in active duty with the U. S. Naval Reserve in San Diego California from December 1970 to March 1973. He is survived by a sister, Shirley (Julian) Irby; brother, Jim (Lena) Shotts; a daughter, Kaylee (Dan) DeLisle; grandchildren, Hunter and Lincoln; nephews, Tim Shotts, Robert Irby; a niece, Teresa Poff and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ann Shotts and a nephew, Joseph Irby. John was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marshall. Graveside services with military rites will be held 11:00 AM Friday, April 19th at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Marshall. The family is most thankful to Dr. Amy James and Angie, Kelsey and Erin of Transitions Hospice Care for the wonderful care he received in his final days.
