Judith A. Joab, 85, of Marshall, IL passed away Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024 in Willow Brook at Marshall, IL. She was born March 5, 1939 at Terre Haute, IN, the daughter of John and Betty Henry Shonk. On Dec. 29, 1962, she married Paul E. Joab and he preceded her in death on Aug. 20, 2020. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Thomas Shonk. Surviving are two daughters, Michelle (Mike) Myers of Marshall, IL and Melinda Jewell of Momence, IL; grandchildren, Monica Joab, Blaine Shumaker, Brittany Williams, Tiffany Williams, Shawn Jewell, Zachary Jewell and Tyler Myers; great grandchildren, Mariah Joab and Macy Myers; siblings, Mike(Connie Kinnaman) Shonk of Marshall, IL, Tim (Patty) Shonk of Charleston, IL and Cindy (Eric) Snedeker of Marshall, IL and many nieces and nephews. Judy was a graduate of Marshall High School, received her Bachelor’s Degree from Eastern IL University and received her Master’s Degree from Indiana State University. She taught at Lawrenceville, IL, Marshall, IL and Crestwood at Paris, IL. Between teaching at Marshall and Crestwood, she owned and operated Judy’s Hallmark in Marshall, but teaching was a true calling. Prior to her illness she was a member of the Marshall Women’s Club and the Clark County Home Extension and was also a member of the First Christian Church. She loved to read and garden. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Monday at Pearce Funeral Home and a service in honor of her life will be 10:30 AM Tuesday at the funeral home with Bob Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Marshall Cemetery Association.
