Kay was born February 2, 1958 at Terre Haute, IN the daughter of Dale and Martha Prince Chrysler. On July 5, 1991 at Owensboro KY, she married her husband of 34 years, Jimmy L. Dodd and he survives. Also surviving are her children, John (Lauren) Dodd of Martinsville, IL, Floyd Brock of Martinsville, IL, Laura (Jared) McCarty of Martinsville, IL, and Mechelle (Jamey) Cohoon of Charleston, IL; Grandchildren, Ranger Dodd, Rayzer Dodd, and John (Bubba J) Dodd II, Clayton Dodd, Christopher Dodd, Jenna Cohoon, Corinne Cohoon, Avery Cohoon, and Alexa Roberts; great grandchildren Kenzlee, Kylar, Dawson, and Gunnar; and siblings Clark (Deanna) Chrysler and Bryan (Penny) Chrysler. For the past 19 years, she had been employed as a bookkeeper for HRC in Marshall. During her lifetime, she was the mastermind of many shenanigans driven by her creative sense of humor. She loved chocolate, Dunkin coffee, and her favorite TV shows. She enjoyed puzzles and couldn’t pass up a good game of Bingo. Kay would gently share her opinions with her family as each one made their own life choices, but if they were about to step over the ledge, she would sternly speak up with heartfelt intent. She could prepare marvelous dishes whipped up in the kitchen, which inspired delightful holiday themed treats that were festive enough to match her love of decorating. As a result, she ensured that the cheeseball would forever be a staple at every Dodd family gathering. But most of all, she loved each of her grandkids deeply, and she thoughtfully encouraged and explored each one’s specific interests with them. Mamaw Kay will be greatly missed.Celebration of life will be held on Saturday August 2, 2025 at the Martinsville Fire Hall from 2-5pm. Memorial Donations can be sent to Human Resource Center of Edgar and Clark Counties.
