Leon Ray Goble passed away unexpectedly Saturday August 23, 2025 while attending the Antique Tractor Show in Rantoul, IL. He is survived by his wife, Paulette Witt Goble, children Jason Goble, Martinsville and Nicole (Cory) Hanley, Casey, IL, grandchildren whom he adored Ava & Allie Goble and Hunter Hanley whom he shared his birthday with on Sept. 5 and his sister Joyce(John) Bishop of Martinsville, IL. He is also survived by special nephews Dustin (Jennifer) Bishop (Breck & Briar) and Riley Bishop. He leaves behind several cousins sister-in-law Doretta (Monte) Cash. Leon had a special friend whom he considered one of his own and cherished, Jake (Mikayla) Hoult. He was preceded in death by his loving parents James and Luella (Morgan) Goble and several uncles and aunts. Leon was raised on a farm south of Martinsville and continued to love old tractors and farm equipment. He attended every Toy and Antique tractor show his health allowed. He graduated from Martinsville High School and Rose Hulman Institute with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was employed and retired from Illinois Department of Transportation in Paris, IL. Leon was active in the Methodist Church, Martinsville Chamber of Commerce, Martinsville Cemetery Board and National Road Association. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge 133 AF&AM and was a Scottish Rite 33rd Degree Mason. Leon was a dedicated member of the Clark County Shrine Club where he was the current President, a Shrine Clown, lined up the Casey 4th of July Parade for years and drove the Shrine Float in all the parades. He achieved the honor of being an Outstanding Shrine Member and has his name is inscribed in the Gold Book at the Shriners Hospital for Children in St. Louis. Leon will be missed for his squinty eyed laughter, love for his grandchildren and his service to his community. He was a big teaser always trying to get a reaction then smile and laugh. He attended all of his granddaughters athletic games, near and far, and was blessed to see his grandson Hunter be born on his birthday. Visitation will be Monday September 1, 2025 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Free Methodist Church in Martinsville, IL with a Masonic service following. Funeral service will be Tuesday Sept. 2 at 10:00 at the church with·graveside services in Ridgelawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital For Children.
