Maggie Chambers, 87, of Martinsville, IL passed away Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2021 in Casey Health Care Center at Casey, IL. She was born Feb. 28, 1933 at Jasonville, IN, the daughter of James and Ruth Haseman Riggle. She married Lewis A. Chambers on Oct. 28, 1950 and he passed away Oct. 26, 1988. Surviving are her children, Debra Forrester of Dickson, TN, Sue Ellen (Patrick) Walentoski of Greenwood Springs, CO, Carrie Ann (Bill) Downey of Martinsville, IL, Donna Renee’ (Jeff) Bridgewater of Brazil, IN, Rita Kay Hollingsworth of Clark Center, IL and Lewis Albert (Connie) Chambers Jr. of Martinsville, IL; grandchildren, Scott Chambers, Lisa (Jimmy) Rogers, Kim (Jeff) Baker, Shaun Nutter, Danielle Nutter, Jacob (Sara) Sutton, Emily (Bill) Yates, Holly (Erik) Hoefgen, Caleb Hollingsworth, Libby (Matt) Dupin, Erin Bridgewater, Adam Chambers, David Shumaker, Andrew Chambers, Whitney (Brian) Eder and Brandon Chambers, 47 great grandkids and 7 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherrie Lynn Chambers in 1958 and by six siblings. Often going by the name “Girly” she was founder of the Chit Chat Club at Brazil, IN. She liked her dogs and collected angels and bells. Maggie was a member of the Willow Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church of rural Martinsville, IL and had worked as a CNA in several nursing facilities in Terre Haute, Brazil and Marshall. Services in honor of her life will be 2:00 PM Saturday at the Willow Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 6492 E. 400th RD, Martinsville, IL with Pastor Kevin Small officiating. Burial will be in the Butternut Cemetery. Visitation will be 12 Noon until service time. Covid 19 guidelines will be followed and it is necessary all those in attendance where face coverings.
