Margaret Ann “Peg” Tingley, 93, of Marshall, IL passed away 12:40 AM Friday, January 25, 2019 in the Burnsides Community Care Center at Marshall. She retired in 1985 from the Marshall Community School District where she taught 6th Grade starting in South School and later moving to North School. She was born March 10, 1925 at Marshall, IL, the daughter of John and Ruth Junker Berner. She married Eugene Tingley who preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 2012. Surviving are a son, Howard Tingley of Marshall; a daughter, Linda (Richard)Salipante ; a granddaughter, Jennifer Salipante and a great grandson Parker all of Bay Village, OH; a brother, Warren (Azalee) Berner of Decatur, IL; a sister-in-law, Vernice Tingley of Marshall and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years, was a member of the Missionary Circle and had served as a delegate to the United Methodist Conference. Following her retirement she was active with the Marshall Food and Clothing Bank and was a PALS instructor for over 25 years. She was also a member of the Clark County Home Extension and Antique Study Club. Services in honor of her life will be 10:30 AM Tuesday at the Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. John Cross officiating.. Burial will be in the Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Monday at Pearce Funeral Home and one hour prior at the church on Tuesday. The family expresses deep gratitude to the staff at Burnsides for their wonderful care and concern for Mom.
