Megan Elizabeth Eitel, 45, of Marshall, IL, passed away at 7:11 AM (EST) Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN. She was born Jan. 10, 1981, in Terre Haute, IN, the daughter of George Quentin Smith and Daralea Harlow Smith.

Megan was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen “Stevie” H. Eitel, and her father, George Q. Smith.

Surviving are her two daughters, Madison Eitel (Travis) Dunn of Marshall, IL, and Amada Eitel (Matthew) Paquette of Tacoma, WA; her mother, Daralea Smith of Marshall, IL; granddaughter, Stevie Primrose Dunn and grandson, Quentin Stephen Eitel Paquette; and her siblings, Kimberly Smith, Jennifer (Randy) Branson, and Quentin Smith, all of Marshall. Several extended family members and friends also survive.

Megan was a graduate of Marshall High School and received her associate degree in Medical Assisting from Lincoln Trail College.

Being Stevie's Oma was one of the greatest joys of Megan's life. She treasured their bond and every little moment they shared. She loved teaching Stevie to get dirty, splash in the water, create art and nurture her creativity. She wanted Stevie to find joy in the simple things. More than anything, Megan wanted Stevie to experience the world with the same sense of wonder and freedom that she carried within herself. She was overjoyed to meet her newest grandson, Quentin, and though she never got the chance to hold him due to her illness, meeting him brought her immense joy and gave her a precious memory she cherished deeply.

Megan had a deep love for nature and found joy in the simple beauty of being outdoors. She loved being surrounded by nature, taking in the peacefulness of the world around her, and making memories along the way. Music was also a special part of Megan’s life, bringing her comfort, joy, and a way to express the free spirit that was so uniquely hers. She truly missed her husband, Stevie Eitel, and it brings us peace to know they are finally reunited. Her beautiful hippie soul is finally free.

Megan’s wishes were for a private gathering of immediate family to be held as a celebration of life.
