Otto Lewis “Preach” Myles, 89, of Martinsville, IL passed away Tuesday in Union Hospital at Terre Haute, IN. He was formerly employed by Velsicol Chemical Corp, the Marshall School District and had worked at the Marshall Red & White. “Preach” was born Oct., 11, 1932 in Clark Co., IL, the son of Comodore L. and Dorothy Bender Myles. Surviving are his children, Angela Hartman, Nick Myles, Roger Shotts and Jennifer Shumaker; 15 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 14 great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sons, Mike Myles and Rick Shotts; a grandchild, Andy Shotts; a brother, Fred Myles and two sisters, Sandra Myles and Donna McConchie. He proudly served this nation in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion. He was a member of Marshall Lodge #133 AF & AM. “Preach” will always be remembered for being just who he was. He truly loved his family and found much pleasure in sitting around and shooting the “bull” with others and expressing his opinions and thoughts. He never met a stranger and was always ready to help out. Masonic services will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Pearce Funeral Home followed by Ron Crawford providing the eulogy. Military rites will be held at the funeral home following the service. Visitation will be 12 Noon until service time.
