Paula Suzanne (Simms) Shade went to be with her Lord after a valiant journey through cancer on March 15, 2024 in Kerrville, Texas. Paula is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ronald Dean Shade of Kerrville, TX; her parents, Paul and Arlene Simms of Mount Prospect, IL; her three brothers, Steve Simms of Cary, NC, Thom Simms of Crystal Lake, IL and Daniel Simms of Mount Prospect., IL; her sister, Mary Kay Hannig of McHenry, IL; her daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah (Goyo) Nieto of Nolensville, TN and Rebecca (Robert) Claypool of LaVergne, TN and her grandchildren, Gisele Nieto, Avery Claypool and Oliver Claypool. Paula was a dedicated Christian wife, mother, friend, homemaker and teacher. Paula prioritized being a devoted wife to Ron and loving mother to Sarah and Rebecca, a mission she executed to the fullest. She also poured into countless young lives through her work as a special education and behavior specialist teacher in Palestine, IL, St. Peters, MO, Humble, TX, Rome, GA, Silverdale, WA and Ingram, TX. In recent years, her heart for restoring brokenness in families led her to volunteer at the Parenting Resource Center in Kerrville, TX. Throughout her life, Paula delighted in sharing her faith and praying for those in need. She was a light to those around her. We are comforted that she is now in Jesus’ arms for eternity. Graveside services will be 1:30 PM Saturday, March 23rd in the Auburn Cemetery,12251 E. Johnson St., Marshall, IL.
