Ray A. Farris, 97, of Dennison, IL met his Lord and Savior in the morning of Tuesday, June 2, 2020. Ray was born Oct. 3, 1922 at Dennison, IL, the son of Harry B. Farris and Nora Ruth Setzer Farris. On March 31, 1950 he married the love of his life Helen Hornbrook at Clarksville of Clark Co. IL and she preceded him in death on May 17, 2014. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Lance Farris; a son-in-law, Mike Hershfelt; a brother, Roy Farris and a sister, Mary Farris. Surviving are four children, Michael (Julie) Farris of Dennison, IL, Michelle Farris Hershfelt of Decatur, IL, Pamela (Les) Farris Conine of Pocahontas, IL and Penny (Darrell) Farris Plyman of Nicholasville, KY; a sister, Una Boyer of Marshall, IL; grandchildren, Aaron (Jessica) Farris, Amie Farris, Blake Farris, Emily (Denise) Barnard, Shanna (Adam) Barnard, Tracy (Jess) Smithers, Randi (David) Howell, Crystal (Mike) Hays, Ashley (Matt) Goodson, Clayton (Robin) Conine and Kyle Conine and fourteen great grandchildren. Ray was a member of the Armstrong United Methodist Church. During his younger years he was active in the Rural Youth Organization and he had been active with the Half Fast Square Dance Club. He retired after many years of farming in Clark County, IL and truly loved the land, his horses and mules. Private graveside services will be Sunday in the Farris Cemetery near Dennison with Pastors Adam Penn and Tim Duke officiating. A drive- through visitation will be held from 5-8 PM Saturday at Pearce Funeral Home. When attending the visitation please approach the funeral home by going south on S. 5th St. at Archer Ave. Continue for three blocks and turn left on Maple Street.
