Thelma R. Jones, 72, of Marshall, IL passed away 4:36 AM Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at her home and God gained another angel. She was born Jan. 9, 1947 at Paris, IL, the daughter of Owen George and Ruby Rose Thompson Johns. For 43 years she was the companion of Woodford E. “Woody” Ferris until the time of his death on May 1, 2016. Surviving are her children Barbara (Dale) Dice of Bismark, IL, Robert Wm. Jones and James Jones both of Paris, IL; grandchildren, Justin Johnson, Rheyse Dice, Lexi Dice, Luke Dice, Dylan Jones, Cailey Jones, Carmen Jones, Jessica Jones and Skyler Sweet and two great grandchildren, Sylas Johnson and Grayson Jones. She loved and looked forward to spending time with her family. She cherished all her children and grandchildren and really enjoyed her two great grandsons. She was especially close with her cousin Tavey Wright. They talked every day and saw each other often. The two of them had a special bond. Mom also enjoyed being part of the bowling league in Terre Haute. She and Woody bowled as often as they could together there and made many friends over the years. Mom and Woody also enjoyed going to nascar races, sprint and horse races. Mom also enjoyed shopping when she could. She was so loving and caring. She will be sadly missed by all. We thank God for the time he gave us with her. She was a graduate of Paris High School and had been an airline stewardess. She had also worked at Colson’s, CBS and TRW. Thelma was a member of the Marshall VFW Auxiliary. Services in honor of her life will be 11:00 AM Saturday, April 27th at Pearce Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Duke officiating. Burial will be in the Auburn Cemetery. Visitation will be one-hour prior services.
