Thomas William Hendrix, 78, of Casey, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 5:15 a.m. ET on April 20, 2026, at The Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care in Terre Haute, Indiana.Tom was born on June 3, 1947, and was the son of Woodrow and Mae Hendrix of Marshall, Illinois. He graduated from Marshall High School in Marshall, Illinois, in 1965. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran who served his country with honor from 1968 to 1969. He carried that pride throughout his life and will be remembered for his strength, quiet presence, and deep love for his family. On November 26, 1965, Tom married the love of his life, Darlene Weir Hendrix. Together they shared 60 years of marriage, a remarkable milestone that spoke to a lifetime of love, commitment, and devotion. Their marriage was a beautiful example of faithfulness and lasting love.Tom was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was the cherished father of Annette Brown and her husband, Tom, and Chris Davidson and her husband, Rick. He was a proud grandfather to Ethan Delp and his wife, Jenna, Lane Brown and his wife, Merissa, Alex Truelove, and Allyson Truelove. He also carried in his heart the precious memory of his angel granddaughter in Heaven, Audria Truelove. Tom was also blessed with great-grandchildren Natalie Delp, Theo Delp, Paisley Truelove, and Wyatt Truelove, who brought joy to his life and added to the legacy of love he leaves behind. Tom enjoyed the simple things in life and the people he loved most. He loved mushroom hunting, boating, talking with family and friends, and watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren play sports. He was a professional welder for many years and especially enjoyed welding, with a gift for making many things out of junk metal. Over the years, Tom worked hard in many different roles. He worked on oil rigs in Casey, Westfield, and all over, was a semi driver, worked as a welder at Trailmobile, and also worked at Caterpillar in Peoria, Illinois. He was also partners with Rick Wallace and Tony Wallace in R T & T Enterprises. Tom also spent many years at Lincoln Trail Motorsports as a starting gate flagger.Visitation will be held Friday April 24th, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.at Pearce Funeral Home with funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Tim Duke officiating. Military rites will be accorded following the funeral service by the Martinsville American Legion.For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care. His family will remember him for his steady love, his devotion to those closest to him, and the many moments shared together that will now be treasured forever.
