Vineta Rose Davidson Stone, age 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, April 6, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family and cherished friends, in the comfort of her home. Born on February 22, 1936, in Owassa, Michigan, Vineta was the beloved daughter of Leslie and Dellora Randolph. At the tender age of two, her family moved to Paris, Illinois, where she was raised and where her story truly began. It was there, during her high school years, that she met and fell in love with her sweetheart, Dennie J. Davidson. They married on December 26, 1954, and together built a vibrant life grounded in love, family, and faith. Vineta and Dennie were blessed with four sons; Keith Davidson of Oak Hill, FL; Kevin (Sheila) Davidson of Marshall, IL; Kent (Christy) Davidson of Woodbury, MN; and Kirk (Melissa) Davidson of Columbia, TN. She also lovingly embraced her daughter-in-love, Gayle Savage Davidson of Suwanee, GA. Vineta’s legacy lives on in her 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored and championed with unmatched devotion. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Harley Randolph and Merlin Randolph, who tragically passed away during the devastating dust storms of Oklahoma in the Great Depression; her first husband, Dennie; her second husband, Charles “Bud” Stone; and her daughter-in-law, Susan Davidson. After Dennie’s passing, Vineta found love once more and married Bud Stone in October 2004. Through this union, her family blossomed further with five stepchildren: Loren Ray (Suzette) Stone, Tom (Theresa) Stone, Joe Stone, Becky (David) Bays, and Ron (Ginny) Stone—adding 16 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren to her ever-growing circle of love. Vineta was a dynamic and active presence in both her local community and beyond. She was involved in the Optimist Club, Singing Sams, Women’s Club, Red Hat Ladies, and the Marshall Thrift Shop. While wintering in Florida, she shared her talents in a quilting group through her church. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she was a devoted member of the Marshall Church of Christ, as well as numerous Churches of Christ across the country during her years as a dedicated Air Force wife. Over the course of more than two decades, Vineta gracefully managed the challenges of military life—raising four boys, maintaining a home, and orchestrating multiple cross-country moves during Dennie’s deployments, always anchoring the family with strength and love. Vineta had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. She found joy in camping—whether locally or through her involvement with Wabash Valley Youth Camp in Indiana and Flaming Pine you Camp in Minnesota. She was also a proud member of the Goldwing group, embracing the open road with enthusiasm and camaraderie. To those who knew and loved her, she was affectionately known as Mom, Grandma, Grandma Nini, and simply Nini. She was a tireless advocate for her family’s dreams—supporting mission trips, cheering at milestones, contributing to fundraisers, and inspiring countless adventures. Her unwavering belief in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will forever be her most enduring gift. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 11th, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall, IL. A celebration of Vineta’s life will follow on Saturday, April 12th at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial to take place at Franklin Cemetery in Chrisman, IL. In honor of her love for youth and service, memorial contributions may be made to Wabash Valley Christian Youth Camp, Flaming Pine Youth Camp, or Optimist International.
