Wanda I. Wallace, 87, of Marshall, IL passed away Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020 at Springhill Village in Terre Haute. She was born March 24, 1933 in Terre Haute to Glen and Velva (Spencer) Sweitzer. She married Leland “Dick” Wallace June 10, 1956. They were quite a pair. She was a 1951 graduate of Marshall High School and briefly attended Indiana State University. She worked at RH Donnelley Corp in Terre Haute prior to starting a family. She gave piano lessons out of her home for many years. She also worked in her daughter’s dental practice later in life. Wanda was a long-time member of Armstrong United Methodist Church of rural Marshall, where she served as the church pianist for many years. She served the church in many other capacities as well and considered her church her family. She was a volunteer and member of the Burnsides Guild, pianist for the Singing Sams, played in 2 bell choirs and was the recipient of the Marshall Service League Diana Award. She loved shopping, eating out and traveling. She was an accomplished seamstress and made a mean Dutch apple pie. Most of all, she enjoyed attending every ballgame, piano recital, concert and track meet she could that her children, and later grandchildren, participated in. Wanda is survived by her son Troy (Lynn) Wallace; daughter, Tami (Doug) Rees; grandchildren Lauryn Rees, Lance Rees and Lanie Wallace; sister-in-law, Norma Sweitzer and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dick in 1999; grandson, Tyler Wallace and her brother, Wayne Sweitzer. Private services will be Tuesday at Pearce Funeral Home with Rev. Adam Penn officiating. Burial will be in the Livingston Cemetery. A walk through visitation will be 12 Noon until 1:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
