Woodford Eugene “Woody” Ferris of Marshall, IL succumbed to cancer at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, May 1, 2016.
Woody was born Oct. 26, 1932 at Marshall, IL, the son of Charles William and Irene Nay Ferris.
Surviving are his partner of 40 years, Thelma Jones; a daughter, Lee Ann Ferris (Ben) Hamblen and children, Barbie (Dale) Dice of Bismark, IL, Robert Jones and Woody Jones both of Paris, IL; many loving grandchildren and a great grandchild; siblings, Dean Ferris of Terre Haute, Lloyd Ferris of Indianapolis, Keith Ferris of Marshall, Michael Ferris of Charleston, Rita Michael of Indianapolis, Judith Ferris of Paris, Billie Joan Wallace Ferris of Indianapolis, IN, Richard Wallace of California and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings, Charles Robert Ferris, Melba Schartel, Paul Wallace, Robert R. Wallace, Lewis E. Wallace and Katherine Grubb.
Woody served this nation in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of VFW Post #5975, Clark Co. Post #90 and Local #841. He was an avid bowler, fisherman, enjoyed NASCAR and horse racing. He had formerly been employed by Velsicol and had retired from Quality Lime Co. He was a true and loyal fan of the Chicago Bears and St. Louis Cardinals.

Services in honor of his life will be 10:30 AM Saturday at Pearce Funeral Home with Bro. Art Orndorff officiating. Burial will be in Auburn Cemetery at Clark Center with military graveside rites.
